Modern Beach Home
This home sits only a block away from the waters edge in West Vancouver. The beach has always been a favourite place to hang out for the family. However, the aesthetic that my client was always drawn to was a more contemporary aesthetic and not the typical coastal beach vibe that many aspire too. Black and white needed to be part of the scheme and just touches of the ocean or beach life was to be incorporated through color and the odd accessory. The kitchen was totally renovated and removing the wall that closed off the kitchen from the living, dining space now offers a large open concept space over looking the pool. It's perfect for the large family and the daily gatherings of their 4 boys and their many friends. Professional grade appliances, wine/beverage fridge, double dishwasher and plenty of seating at the oversized island were introduced. The design of the custom hood fan is a strong focal for this new space and compliments the custom panty barn door perfectly. The living rooms new floor to ceiling linear style fireplace is dressed in a unique, custom porcelain tile mimicking the waves of the ocean and adding something out of the ordinary. The new oversized white leather sectional and black leather chairs offer plenty of seating for the family and when entertaining. The floating raised white quartz hearth offers a cozy spot for additional seating when necessary. New gray hardwood reminiscent of bleached and weathered beach logs was incorporated throughout the main floor and blends into new large format porcelain installed throughout the kitchen & family room. The revised mud room was reconfigured to add more organized storage for this busy, young family. Each member of the family has their own personal space for coats, shoes and sports equipment. A new sink makes for easy clean ups as needed. This new hard working, organized space brings a little less stress as the family tries to get out the door and start their hectic daily schedules.
