Selecting “Your” Style

Blog by Michele Buchamer | September 16th, 2009

What if youre not sure of what “your” style is, don’t despair and certainly don’t feel alone. With the wealth of home furnishings available today, it can be very confusing indeed. Here’s a simple exercise to try. Thumb through decorating magazines, looking for rooms that inspire you or speak to your senses. Though the space may not be anything like your room, there will be elements that translate well to your room. Don’t limit yourself to overall looks that you like, also search for individual ideas that you can incorporate (a storage solution or an ideal sofa).

Maybe you’re a traditionalist, enjoying the formality of classic furnishings, or you prefer a put-your-feet-up casual style. Don’t be surprised if you find that you like elements of several different styles, putting you into the “eclectic” category.

Above all, keep in mind there is not right or wrong decorating decisions. There are guidelines for sure, but the bottom line is that it’s all a matter of personal style – “Yours”.
